Madison – Senators Mark Miller (D-Monona) and Lena Taylor (D-Milwaukee) today announced that Senator Luther Olsen (R-Ripon) will serve as the Joint Finance Committee representative to the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinic Authority Board of Directors. Senator Olsen held the position when the Senate Republicans held a majority in the State Senate.
“Senator Olsen has been a capable member of this board and it is my pleasure to make such a bipartisan appointment at this time in our state’s history. I am confident that Senator Olsen will continue to represents us well on the board,” said Taylor.
As Co-Chair of the Joint Committee on Finance, Senator Taylor designates a member of the committee to sit on the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinic Authority Board of Directors. Taylor noted that this appointment demonstrates the commitment of Senate Democrats to working in a bipartisan fashion.
“Bipartisanship will be key in many of the major decisions facing Wisconsin in the coming months. I am committed to finding ways to move forward together. It is my hope that this appointment will serve as a beginning to bridging the gap between what divides us, so that we may find what unites us,” noted Taylor.
Miller applauded the appointment and highlighted the University Hospital System as one of the issues legislators from both parties can work together on in the near future. The hospital system is based in Madison, but has clinics in many other cities around the state.
“The University Hospital System is important to people all across the state regardless of party, and our support of this great health care provider isn’t divided by party lines. It is one of the best systems in the country and a large employer in our state. This is just one of the many issues that we can work on together to move our state forward,” said Miller.
