OVERWHELMING ASSEMBLY BIPARTISAN SUPPORT FOR COUNTY COMPTROLLER BILL

Taylor Cheers Assembly Action, Praises Bipartisan Effort to Achieve Passage

(MADISON) Senator Lena C. Taylor (D-Milwaukee) issued the following statement after the overwhelming Assembly support for the Milwaukee County Comptroller Act (SB 259):

“Friday morning’s passage of the Milwaukee County Comptroller Act was an example of bipartisan leadership working together to finalize this legislation before the end of the floorperiod. Working together, Democrats and Republicans were able to move this bill past objections and deliver it to the Governor to meet the requirement for an April 2012 election. I am extremely pleased that the hard work put into this bill was not delayed.

With the overwhelming 79-11 vote in the Assembly, this bill to restore trust and accountability to Milwaukee County finances moves one step closer to enactment. It is my hope that soon, Milwaukee County voters will be deciding who to elect as their first County Comptroller.”
