STATEMENT ON INFORMATIONAL HEARING ON AB 590
Taylor defends Freedom of Choice of Faith Act
(MADISON) Senator Lena C Taylor (D-Milwaukee) today issued the following statement regarding the informational hearing held on AB 590.
“I thank the Assembly Committee on Children and Families for the discussion today on legislation relating to spiritual healing and criminal prosecution. Legislative discussion of constitutional rights and protection of children is a worthy public topic. I commend the Christian Science Church for their willingness to appear despite an overwhelming list of invited witnesses opposed to their position.”
“SB 384, the Freedom of Choice of Faith Act, is the proper way to protect children and preserve the constitutional right to practice religion or for a proper defense. Other attempts, such as AB 590 lead dangerously close to violating constitutional principles our state holds dear.”
