Senator Taylor Celebrates Success of First Clinic, Plans for Next on Saturday, August 29th

“Taking It to the Streets” Helps Constituents

(MADISON) Senator Lena Taylor is taking a moment to thank the hundreds of people that attended “Taking It to the Streets” at Milwaukee’s Black Historical Society on Saturday, August 15th, and is gearing up for a second driver’s license clinic on Saturday, August 29th.

“When we held our clinic this past Saturday,” Taylor said, “we were really able to feel the pulse of the people here in the community.  People are responding well to the hands-on approach that we’re trying to bring to state government.  If their home is threatened by foreclosure, if their child needs health insurance, or if they simply need a driver’s license to get to work, we’re trying to provide clarity and understanding in regard to the help we can provide. I hope that the success from this clinic can carry over to our next one on the 29th.”

The Department of Motor Vehicles, the Department of Health Services, the Milwaukee Health Department, Justice 2000, and foreclosure attorneys were on hand to help people with questions and concerns. These services and more will also be available at Senator Taylor’s next clinic at the Greater New Birth Church, 2207 W. Center Street, Milwaukee, from 10-2 on Saturday, August 29th.

“Often times, people don’t know about the services that we can provide.  But we are here to serve.  That is our job,” Taylor said.  She added that the face-to-face interaction cuts out a lot of the “red tape” that people become frustrated with.
