Senator Taylor to Host Town Hall Meeting with
Department of Children and FamiliesMADISON – Today, in conjunction with the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families (DCF), State Senator Lena Taylor (D-Milwaukee) will host a community town hall meeting at Washington Park Senior Center in Milwaukee. The meeting, which will feature DCF Secretary Reggie Bicha and several department administrators, will give area residents the opportunity to better-understand the new department and its role in administering several key state programs.
“As legislators, one of the most important things we do is connect constituents with the government resources they need,” Taylor said. “This is a great opportunity for people from all over the community to come out and familiarize themselves with one of our state’s most important new departments.”
DCF was created earlier this year by Governor Jim Doyle, at the recommendation of the Special Committee on Strengthening Wisconsin Families. Among other programming, DCF oversees Wisconsin Works, child welfare programs, foster care, domestic violence prevention, child support, early care, and education.
