CBS This Morning interviews Senator Carpenter
re Wisconsin’s weak drunk driving laws.

 
Madison – Today State Senator Tim Carpenter (D-Milwaukee) shared that he was interviewed on CBS This Morning show for a segment entitled, “The DUI Divide: Wisconsin’s DUI divide lets first-time offenders off the hook”

“The fact that Wisconsin’s weak drunken driving laws are receiving national attention should give everyone in Wisconsin’s legislature pause. Too many of our friends and family have been touched by the tragedy resulting from drunk driving,” said Carpenter.
 
“It is time to get serious with laws to keep offenders – especially repeat offenders – off the road now. The arguments that tougher OWI laws would be too expensive ignores the costs of letting things stay the same. Further, my constituents have, over the years, overwhelming stated that they are willing to bear such costs for increasing the penalties.
 
“I will continue to work to toughen up our laws and crack down on drunk drivers,” said Carpenter.
