Madison – Today State Senator Tim Carpenter (D-Milwaukee) issued the following statement in response to news that the federal government may act soon on immigration reform.
“For over a decade, my constituents and I have been asking our federal representatives to address our broken immigration system. The burdens of this unfixed system fall heavily on the immigrant-rich Third Senate District. Despite fits and starts over the years the United States Congress has ultimately failed their job to address immigration reform. I would hope that Congress would heed the words of our Governor Walker to ‘put up or shut up’ when it comes to legislating. Wisconsin residents are getting tired of waiting for Washington, D.C. to stop bickering and get much-needed reform enacted.
