Madison-Today, Senator Tim Carpenter (D-Milwaukee) announced that he has introduced a bi-partisan Joint Resolution honoring the recent achievements of Pope Francis.

“Pope Francis' commitment to the poor and inclusive nature has been an example I think all people can follow” said Carpenter.

“Itis my sincere hope that this resolution overwhelmingly passes this session not only for our Catholic constituencies but for everyone who advocates for the poor and disenfranchised” Carpenter added.

The introduction of this comes just one day before the Pope’s birthday and is in part to recognize his recent achievement of being named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year. Pope Francis has done an exemplary job at bringing the issues to light that deal with the poor a disaffected.
