Madison - Today State Senator Tim Carpenter (D-Milwaukee) announced that if the estimated $1.3 Billion dollar Powerball ticket is won in Wisconsin, he will draft a bill requiring that 100% of the resulting Wisconsin state income tax revenue be deposited into the Veterans Trust Fund.
Assuming the winner would chose the option for a cash payout of $806,000,000, the state could receive a windfall in income tax of about $65,790,000.
“Our veterans and their families have constantly made personal sacrifices in protecting our country. Too many of our veterans are returning home from multiple deployments suffering from major physical and psychological injuries,” said Carpenter.
“The Veterans Trust Fund, which needs more financial support, funds educational training, transitional housing, county veterans’ service offices, veterans’cemeteries and other important services,” said Carpenter.
“Our Veterans have sacrificed so much - now we must uphold our end of the bargain and commit to taking care of our servicemen and women" said Carpenter.
