“I am excited to work on these committees, and to make sure the voices of my constituents are heard on issues that will directly affect them. For example, the Senate Committee on Transportation, Public Safety, Veterans and Military Affairs will likely take up several issues in this session that will directly affect the Third Senate District. For example, the Senate Committee on Transportation, Public Safety, Veterans and Military Affairs will likely work on planning for reconstruction of the Zoo Interchange and the I-94 East West corridor around Miller Park. Also, I want to continue to be a strong advocate for our veterans, especially since the Zablocki VA Center is now in our district.

“Additionally, a recent survey also revealed that an overwhelming 91 percent of respondents said that the DOT should prioritize the repairing of local roads over new highway construction. I will promise to fight for my district’s priorities in this committee,” said Carpenter.

Senator Carpenter noted that the committees on State and Federal Relations and on Health and Human Services will both likely take up concerns relating to changes in federal health care law, as well as state programs. “I will continue to fight for the programs relied upon by the seniors and families in my district, especially SeniorCare and FamilyCare. On December 29, 2012, we got the great news that SeniorCare has been extended through 2015, and I will continue to fight to protect this program and make the program permanent. I will also work to make sure that programs such as BadgerCare and community health clinics can continue to provide the vital services that help keep our families and communities healthy and safe,” said Carpenter.
