Education and Job Training

The legislature's non-partisan budget staff project a $3.8 billion surplus at the end of this fiscal year. I support Governor Evers' proposal to give a portion of this surplus back to the taxpayers now. The governor also presented several plans to reinvest the surplus in education, including $611 million for K-12 education and $111 million to public universities. Students are the future of our economy and are always a wise investment for our state. Making sure that our children can recover academically from the COVID-19 pandemic is among my top priorities.

In addition to these investments in schools and universities, I support grants and policies that increase opportunities for apprenticeships. these programs are available for students in high school, as well as young graduates who are just getting started. Apprenticeships are a fantastic way for young professionals to keep pursuing education while learning valuable skills and getting their foot in the door to a well-paying job.
