Great Potential for Northeast Wisconsin with Expo Center Groundbreaking

ASHWAUBENON– Senator Robert Cowles (R-Green Bay) released the following statement after attending the groundbreaking in Ashwaubenon for the Brown County expo center:

“As a State Legislator representing Ashwaubenon and large portions of Northeast Wisconsin, I could feel the excitement in the air this morning as ground was broken on the Brown County expo center. I’ve been helping to work towards this project for years, both through my role as a Legislator and as a member of the Stadium District. The expense of the expo center is lessened thanks to Legislative actions I’ve helped champion with Representative Steffen that returned over $5 million in excess stadium tax collections to the county government and an additional $2 million set aside in a prior State Budget for this project. I also voted to provide $1 million to the expo center through the Stadium District.

“Once complete, this welcome development will have the space necessary for Ashwaubenon and our entire region to continue being a year-round events destination. Serving as a regional asset for decades to come, the expo center will provide even more opportunities to showcase all of what Northeast Wisconsin has to offer. I applaud the work of County Executive Troy Streckenbach and other county officials on this project, and I look forward to the expo center’s continued development and grand opening.”
