Listening
Sessions
This week, Senator Tom Tiffany and I held listening sessions in
Elcho, Tomahawk, and Merrill. We had great attendance from
community members who discussed a broad range of topics
including education, shoreland zoning, DNR reforms, and
forestry.

I'd
like to thank everyone who attended and contributed to the
excellent conversation at all the listening sessions held this
week. These discussions are an important part of our job as
elected officials and I truly appreciate hearing from you.
In
case you were unable to attend the listening sessions already
held, I will be holding a listening session in Antigo tomorrow
morning.

DWD Launches new
JobCenterofWisconsin.com Tools
This week, Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD)
announced the launch of the first phase of new, mobile-friendly
employment tools available to employers and job seekers at no
cost, 24 hours a day on Wisconsin's online public labor
exchange, JobCenterofWisconsin.com.
"The Department of Workforce Development is making the most
significant investment in the JobCenterofWisconsin.com website
since the site was launched in 2008," Secretary Newson said.
"These enhancements will help employers and job seekers make
more effective employment connections. New, dynamic tools enable
users to develop skills-based job postings and resumes and
conduct advanced talent and job searches. The launch will also
feature a redesigned Labor Market Information landing page that
highlights the most requested reports and data that our labor
market experts offer, with additional enhancements for the page
in the planning stages."
JobCenterofWisconsin – Phase 1 offers employers and job seekers:
•Streamlined registration from over 20 screens to 5 screens.
•Improved usability and search features.
•Advanced skills matching to connect talent with job postings.
•Easier access to integrated labor market information for making
informed employment decisions.
This initial phase of enhancements move the state's Labor Market
Information System (LMIS) toward the ultimate vision of a
best-in-class system that uses the latest available data to
connect talent with job postings based on skills.
The easily consumable labor market information that LMIS makes
available to clients, customers and other stakeholders to make
informed decisions will draw upon the most current data
available, including data from JobCenterofWisconsin.com job
postings, resumes and occupational data. The Wisconsin public
labor exchange portal integrates different applications under
the JCW name, including enhanced applications such as JobNet
Business, Skill Explorer and WORKnet.
Future JCW phased improvements for release in 2016 include:
additional skills matching tools with emphasis on job seeker
credentials, options for personalizing and receiving desired
labor market information, a comprehensive and searchable
workforce events calendar and mapping features.
