Bring Your Legislator to Work
Last
Friday, I had the opportunity to visit
Nicolet College as part of Bring Your
Legislator to Work Day. While there,
I was given a tour by Ashley, a student
who is in the process of earning her
Health Care Assistant credential. She is
one of five students at Nicolet College
on the path to earn this accreditation.
To obtain the credential students must
take a semester-long course where they
learn about the skills needed in the
health care field such as hand washing,
standard precautions, and how to handle
something with blood. The Health Care
Assistant credential is one step below a
Certified Nursing Assistant and was
created to help in an industry that is
seeking workers. Nicolet College started
the pilot of this program this past fall
and looks to continue to offer this
credential. Thank you to Ashley for
instructing me about the program and
taking me through the daily routine!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Wisconsin State Park Winter Candlelight Events
Saturday, January 14, 2017 and Saturday, February 18, 2017 the Friends of Rib Mountain State Park invite everyone to explore the park trails on snowshoes. Meet at the newly constructed Friends Shelter located just past the park entrance. Plan to bring snowshoes; limited pairs will be available to borrow. Also bring flashlights or headlamps. Enjoy hot chocolate and snacks afterwards. Parking is limited and carpooling is recommended. This event is free and donations are welcome to help cover costs. An annual or daily state park vehicle admission sticker is required. 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Snowmobile Conditions
The county trails in the 35th District are not currently open, but
with the snow expected over the next couple of days, I'm hoping
that they will be open soon. Until then you will have to travel
a little further north to go snowmobiling. Currently trails in
the St. Germain, Park Falls, Boulder Junction, Eagle River, Phelps,
Rhinelander and Phillips areas are open. Additionally trails by
Minocqua and
Tomahawk are partially open. You can
check which trails are open and the trail conditions on the
Travel Wisconsin
website.
