Rep.
Czaja Appointed to Joint Finance Committee
I
am honored to serve on the Joint Finance Committee for the upcoming 2015-16
legislative session. Last week Assembly Speaker Robin Vos appointed me and
two colleagues, Rep. Michael Schraa of Oshkosh and Rep. Amy Loudenbeck of
Clinton, as the three new Republican Assembly members to the JFC. He also
appointed Rep. John Nygren of Marinette to again serve as the Assembly
Chair, Rep. Dale Kooyenga from Brookfield to serve as vice-chair, and Rep.
Dean Knudson from Hudson as a returning member.
The finance committee oversees the entire state budget writing process.
There are a total of 16 members; eight from the Assembly and eight from the
Senate. JFC is widely considered to be the most powerful committee in the
legislature, as it reviews all state appropriations and revenues.
I am eager to begin this new role. We have an outstanding mix of skill sets
among our committee members, including a CPA background and several
small-business owners. I am particularly pleased at the geographic diversity
that we all bring to the table. Each one of us is from a different corner of
the state, enabling us to balance regional priorities as we work to protect
all our taxpayers and to make sound fiscal decisions. I will use the best of
my abilities to advocate each and every day for Northern Wisconsin.

Capitol Christmas Tree Lighting

All week there has been a buzz of activity at
the Capitol as this year's Christmas tree was decorated. Ornaments were made
by students all across the state, following this year's theme, "Honoring
Wisconsin's Veterans". Governor Walker will lead the official tree
lighting ceremony tomorrow, Friday December 5th at 12:00 noon. Our neighbors
in the north Dennis & Kim Schoeneck will also be in attendance to see the
tree they donated so proudly displayed.
