Gov.
Walker Signs Farrow-Weatherston Bill |
Today, Governor Walker signed six bills supporting
Wisconsin veterans into law at the Wisconsin
Veterans Home at King near Waupaca. I was proud to
author one of the bills, Senate Bill 370, along with
Representative Tom Weatherston (R-Racine) to
encourage state agencies to contract with companies
owned by veterans with disabilities to assist
veterans in becoming successful job creators. The
bill which passed both the Senate and the Assembly
on a voice vote; it is Act 192.

CBD
Oil Legislation Clears Senate |
(Photo: Living Lake Country;

Last week, I had the pleasure of meeting Meghan
Bertram, her parents Curt and Jennifer, along with
Jenny Godin and Dave Fouts. Meghan suffers from
seizures and a bill that could help provide some
relief to her and her family, Assembly Bill 726, was moving
through the legislative process. This legislation
would allow physicians to administer cannabidiol (CBD)
oil to patients. The oil comes from a marijuana
plant grown to have no psychoactive effects and has
been shown to be effective in treating seizures. I'm
happy to announce that in the final Senate floor day
of this legislative session, AB 726 passed
unanimously, 33-0. Initially, I had my doubts and
would like to thank people like Meghan, Curt,
Jennifer, Jenny and Dave for reaching out and
educating not only myself but other members of the
Senate and Assembly to help pass this bill.
