Dear Friends and Neighbors -
Today, Republican lawmakers fast tracked legislation that would
further limit access to health care for Wisconsin women and
families. This legislation is expected to be brought up before
the full Senate on Tuesday, June 9th.
We need to protect a woman’s freedom to make decisions about her
health care and prevent further political intrusion into
personal decisions that are best left to a woman, her doctor,
her family and her faith. Unfortunately, Republicans are once
again failing to address the important economic and financial
challenges facing our state and are instead forcing their
political ideology on women across Wisconsin.
For victims of rape and incest and women with rare and
unexpected medical complications, this bill will limit their
freedom to choose and prevent health professionals from
delivering the highest standard of medical care. Abortions after
20 weeks are extremely rare and often result from extraordinary
health complications that require doctors to consider every
medical option available. This bill will jeopardize women’s
safety and prevent health professionals from making life-saving
medical decisions.
The following groups have publicly opposed this bill:
