AROUND THE STATE
All
of our thoughts and prayers are with the family and

Welcome |
I would like to welcome you to the first edition of my periodic
e-mail updates, which serves as a fast and easy way to communicate
what’s happening at your State Capitol and in the 19th Senate
District.
Since the legislative session got underway in January, it has
been a pleasure to serve on behalf of the 19th Senate District and
I’m proud to represent you in Madison. I am committed to being
a responsive legislator, and e-news is just one way we can keep in
touch.
As always, if you have questions, comments or concerns, be sure
to contact me by any means – whether by e-mail, phone or letter.
I’ll be glad to speak with you.
I hope to talk to you soon!
Sincerely,

Roth Introduces Stolen Valor Bill
As more and more veterans return from service,
there has sadly been a coinciding increase in the number of
imposters who impersonate members of the military to take advantage
of the goodwill of our citizens. Fake military documents, uniforms,
insignia and medals are easily purchased by imposters.
In response, this week I introduced legislation
that will help protect the sacrifices of America’s veterans and the
integrity of the uniform they wear and the decorations they’ve
earned. My bill says that any person who falsely claims service in
the military or military honor for financial gain is guilty of a
crime.
I’ve served overseas and to think that there
are people profiting on the sacrifices of others offends me. The
nation’s support of veterans makes it an ideal target for fraud.
This bill will help protect both that goodwill and the integrity of
the men and women who serve our country.

This week I met with members of Harbor House in my Capitol
office. Harbor House Domestic Abuse Programs in Appleton
provides critical assistance and programs to hundreds of families in
our community who are victims and survivors of domestic abuse.
