Senate Democrats Admit They Made Auto Insurance Unaffordable

Madison)… In a move clearly meant to provide political cover in an election year, Senator Kathleen Vinehout (D-Alma) introduced a bill that would repeal some of the changes she and Senate Democrats made in the state budget that resulted in auto insurance rate increases for many working families. The Wisconsin Insurance Alliance estimated that the Democrats’ changes increased auto insurance costs by at least 33%.




Meningitis Awareness Month
On March 10th, Governor Jim Doyle signed a proclamation declaring March 2010 as Meningitis Awareness Month. Senator Scott Fitzgerald and Jefferson resident, Gail Bailey, worked with Doyle to obtain the meningitis designation for Wisconsin.

Democrats’ Tax, Spending Increases Wrong Recipe for Job Growth

[Madison, Wisc….] Rankings released by the U.S. Department of Labor this week show only six states have experienced greater job losses than Wisconsin. The state is one of a dozen that have fewer people working today than at any time since the 1990’s.

“The $5 billion of tax and spending increases enacted by Wisconsin Democrats last year are the wrong way to grow jobs and retain businesses in Wisconsin,” said Senate Republican Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau). “As Senate Democrats admitted, they raised enough taxes and fees to ‘sink a good sized battleship.’ Their job-killing agenda is taking us in the wrong direction.”
