Government-run Health Care Plan Leaves Taxpayers Sick

Today, Senate Democrats approved a government-run health care bill that leaves taxpayers to pick up the tab. SB 484 creates a state-run health insurance program called the BadgerCare Plus Basic Plan. Governor Doyle is proceeding with plans to build a high speed rail line between Madison and Milwaukee using $810 million of federal funding. Once the line is built, taxpayers will be expected to fund the annual operating subsidy, which is estimated to cost $8 million to nearly $30 million.
