Democrats Can’t
Dodge Blame for
Auto Insurance Hikes
After Wisconsin Democrats mandated some of the highest auto insurance coverage in the nation, they are now trying to blame the resulting price hikes on the auto insurance industry. The most recent example of this includes letters that Assembly Majority Leader Tom Nelson has been sending to his constituents, denying any part of the massive hikes that Wisconsin families are seeing in their auto insurance bills.
Democrats adopted steep increases in the auto insurance minimum coverage in the 2009-2011 state budget. The law increased uninsured motorist coverage minimums from $25,000 to $00,000 and increased mandated coverage per accident from $50,000 to $300,000. Property damage coverage increased from $0,000 to $25,000. The new law also requires that automobile insurance includes underinsured motorist coverage and mandates that every driver has auto insurance.

Stimulus Cash Used to Grow More Gov't Jobs
On a day when 250 Kohl’s employees found out that they no longer have jobs in Wisconsin, Governor Doyle touted the creation of more government jobs. The Governor highlighted 8,284 full-time jobs that were created or saved by spending $680 million in federal funding so far this year, the majority of which were government jobs. It equates to $82,086 of taxpayer money to create one job for three months or $328,344 for the year.
