Buckle your seatbelt before you open your next auto insurance bill. Insurance rates are sharply increasing thanks to massive hikes in auto insurance minimum coverage levels that Wisconsin Democrats included in the 2009-2011 state budget.
I have already had numerous constituents contact my office, concerned about their auto insurance rates doubling or tripling. The Wisconsin Insurance Alliance estimates that the changes will increase auto insurance costs by at least 33%. The average driver will see an increase anywhere from $96 to $309 per year. This will bring Wisconsin’s auto insurance rates from the third lowest in the United States to one of the highest and will likely result in many drivers dropping their auto insurance due to cost.

WI Among “Most Inhospitable [States] for Economic Growth”
New rankings released by the non-partisan Tax Foundation found that Wisconsin property taxes ranked 9th highest in the nation and the state ’s business climate ranked 8th worst. The organization reported a significant worsening in the state’s tax climate from the previous year due to new job-killing taxes imposed on businesses by majority Democrats.
