New Phone Tax Starts Sept 1st
Anyone who owns a cell phone, landline phone, or any other device that can call 911 will have a new 75 cent monthly fee. September 1st marked the beginning of the phone tax on Wisconsin consumers, one of the $5 billion in new taxes and fees that Wisconsin Democrats have enacted this session to fund a 6% government spending increase in the 2009-2010 state budget. The tax is expected to take $102.6 million from the already overtaxed Wisconsin citizens over the next two years. The taxpayer money taken from that fee will be dumped into the state’s general coffers and used as a slush fund. |
