Alpaca Update
When this little girl showed up at Double D Alpaca Ranch earlier
than expected, I put out a call on Facebook for name suggestions.
Within hours we received nearly 40 suggestions, ranging from Angel
and
Little Miss Precious to Q-Tip and White Fang.
A few days later, we had our finalists: Mopsy, Lucy and Q-tip.
Today I am proud to introduce the newest member of our alpaca family:
Lucy
With new babies arriving,
we always need new names for our alpacas. Feel free to
send in a suggestion on Facebook!

Dear Neighbors,
Happy July 4th!
On the Fourth of July, we
come together with friends and family to celebrate the birth of our
great nation. We remember heroes like Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin
Franklin and John Adams as we enjoy brats and beers, parades and
fireworks. We celebrate our freedom and independence as a people and as
a country and we salute those defending these rights at home and abroad.
With the passage of the
budget and the Assembly out of session until the fall, I’ll be spending
most of my time at home in the district meeting with my constituents to
discuss legislative issues and concerns. I will be knocking on doors all
across the district, from Onalaska to Holmen to Bangor. The summer
provides such a great opportunity for us to work together as a community
to brainstorm about new laws and ideas we would like to enact in the
coming months. It is a time for us to think about where we were a year
ago and where we would like to be a year from today. And for those of us
over at Double D Alpaca Ranch, summer is also the time to take care of
our ever growing herd of alpacas. Check out the article and pictures
about our newest addition below.
Later this month I will be
heading to Charlottesville, Virginia to participate in the State
Legislative Leaders Foundation (SLLF) and University of Virginia Darden
School of Business Emerging Leaders Program. As one of only 50 state
legislators selected from across the nation to participate in this
prestigious program, I will be joining fellow state representatives in a
weeklong session designed to help us better serve our constituents. I
eagerly look forward to hearing new ideas and work with colleagues on
both sides of the aisle from all over the country.
Sincerely,
STEVE DOYLE
State Representative
94th Assembly
District

DOYLE JOBS BILL PASSES ASSEMBLY
A proposal initiated by Western Wisconsin
economic development professionals has passed the first hurdle to
becoming law by passing the State Assembly today. Rep. Steve Doyle
(D-Onalaska) was successful in passing the third jobs bill this
session. The Small Business Diversification and Market Expansion
Initiative received strong support from members of both parties. “I am
proud to have worked together with Democrats and Republicans to get this
important piece of legislation through the Assembly,” said Doyle.
The bill came about with help from
representatives of Western Technical College, Workforce Connections, La
Crosse Chamber of Commerce, La Crosse Area Development Corporation,
Union officials and other members of the Seven Rivers Alliance, who met
to brainstorm ideas for job creation in Western Wisconsin. The group
put forth several ideas for job creation and business expansion. The
main instruction to the group was that proposals could not cost any
additional money for taxpayers.
Foremost among their recommendations is
the Small Business Diversification and Market Expansion Initiative.
This proposal will expand the scope of the existing Workforce
Advancement Training Grants available to Wisconsin Technical Colleges.
The enhanced grants will provide strategic planning and technical
assistance to help companies diversify their business. “We believe this
diversification will help businesses be stronger and more competitive in
a changing global economy and ultimately will result in job growth,”
said Rep. Doyle.
The focus of these grants is to enable
both emerging and existing companies to diversify their operations,
compete in new markets and increase job creation. “This is the kind of
legislation that will make a difference in our region. It will
strengthen companies and result in job growth,” said Doyle. “This is a
win-win for everybody.”
The bill was introduced by Representative
Doyle and co-sponsored by Reps. Nerison and Billings in the Assembly
with broad bipartisan support. The Senate also has bipartisan bill
authors, Senators Joseph Leibham (R- Sheboygan ) and Jennifer Shilling
(D-La Crosse). We are all optimistic that this bill will receive a
prompt public hearing and vote in the State Senate, and can be signed
into law by the Governor.
“Some legislators choose to engage in
partisan battles in Madison,” said Doyle. “I believe I was elected to
work in a bipartisan fashion to focus on job creation.” |
