A Note from Rep. Macco
Happy Saint
Valentine's Day-Eve! Once again, it was a busy week. We were able to pass a
couple bills that may not grab front page news but are common sense
reforms that will lead to more effective and efficient government.
I was happy to
have my wife, Sue, join me in Madison this past week. During that time she was able to sit in on our caucus meeting and
floor session. She had a great time! If you are interested in seeing bills being voted on
or having a tour of the Capitol, contact my office to set up a time.
My Uncle Don
Two weeks ago, my
uncle, Donald Macco, passed away.
Uncle Don lived in the De Pere area his whole life and died at the
age of 93. He was a World War II Navy veteran and attended Bowling Green. He
worked at Fort Howard Paper company. His personality and service to the
community demostrate why his is the "Greatest Generation."
I was
honored to have the Wisconsin Assembly adjourn in his memory this past
Thursday.
"Death
and Taxes, they are certain"
Although the vast majority of you are not happy about it, tax season is upon
us. Admittedly, this is not the most pleasant time of year. However, I
wanted to let you know that the Wisconsin
Department of Revenue (DOR) has many resources to help you work through your
tax problems. If you have questions or problems with any part of your taxes, click
here as a resource for help.
Red Tape Review
This
Monday, February 16, I will be attending the tour for the Red Tape Review at
Fox Valley Technical
College from 3:00 - 4:00 PM.
The Red Tape Review is an effort from Assembly Republicans to review each
chapter of Wisconsin's Administrative Code. We will then look to remove
unnecessary, burdensome and outdated regulations. Last session, by
instituting a similar process, Assembly Republicans were able to cut 76
pages of unnecessary regulations.
Joining me will be other area legislators,
business leaders and community members. If you are available,
I encourage you to join our roundtable discussion on what you would like to
see the state do to move Wisconsin Forward. You can also
"like" the Red Tape Review on Facebook
or contact my office with any questions.
Community Highlight:
Career
Technical Student organization Visit
On Thursday, I had
the pleasure of welcoming three student leaders to my office. Student
leaders from Future Business Leaders, DECA and FFA sat down with me to
discuss how they see their role as future leaders. I was able to talk about
how being active in politics at a young age can help any future career.
I'll tell you what,
if these young individuals are what our future looks like, then our future
is bright!
Come visit us!
I am a coffee snob.
That is why I bought a Storyville Coffee System for the office. Storyville
not only
makes the best coffee I've ever had, but also donates any and all profits to International
Justice Mission, a group that combats slavery worldwide.
Come
to our office to share a cup of coffee with Ben and me. While you're down
here, take a tour of our fine Capitol, sit in the gallery during a floor
session and experience the rest of history Madison has to office. Call my
office and lest us know when you're coming down!
Have a great weekend,
John Macco
