Fitchburg area construction update

Access remains open to area businesses and neighborhoods in the project area. Please continue to patronize the area businesses!

NOTE: Utility relocations continue to be completed by private companies throughout the Verona Road area,  Spoke/Sprocket Drive, and Carriage Street.

Verona Road, from Fitchrona Road underpass north to Raymond Road

• Nightly single lane closures anticipated on Verona Road northbound and southbound within these limits.
  • 8 p.m. – 5 a.m., Monday through Friday
  • 8 p.m. – 10 a.m., Friday night into Saturday morning
  • Shoulder work at night throughout the week

County PD (McKee Road), between Fitchrona Road and Commerce Park Drive

• Daily single lane closures may occur on County PD in this area, as needed throughout the week.
  • 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • All lanes on County PD (McKee Road) to remain open during morning and afternoon rush hours.
• View work operations in this area.
  • Storm sewer and retaining wall work to continue from Nesbitt Road to Verona Road, on the south side of County PD.
  • Temporary signal installation at the County PD and Fitchrona Road intersection late in the week.
  • Utility work by private companies at County PD and Fitchrona Road intersection on Tuesday (April 4) and Wednesday (April 5).

East Frontage Road, between Sprocket Drive and Chalet Gardens Road

• The East Frontage Road, between Sprocket Drive and Williamsburg Way, CLOSED until mid-August 2017.
  • Grading activities to continue for the new Frontage Road and future exit ramp from northbound Verona Road to Williamsburg Way.
  • Storm sewer work to begin for the new Frontage Road.
• The East Frontage Road, from Williamsburg Way to Chalet Gardens Road, remains OPEN.
  • This section of Frontage Road scheduled to be CLOSED to through traffic starting in mid-April 2017. Access maintained to area businesses.

Nesbitt Road, between County PD (McKee Road) and Limestone Lane

• Nesbitt Road is OPEN to all traffic.
• Storm water basin construction continues between Verona Road and Nesbitt Road.
• Next week, landscaping and restoration to begin on west side of roadway by sidewalk terraces.
• Access remains open to local businesses and residences within the work zone.

Williamsburg Way and Anton Drive intersection, west of Verona Road

• Some landscaping and restoration work to start next week.
  • Roundabout to remain open; however, flagging operations may be needed. Please be alert for crews and equipment in this area.

Kapec Road, from King James Way/Anton Drive to new Fitchrona Road extension at County PD (McKee Road)

• Kapec Road is OPEN to all traffic until late April.
• View work operations in this area.
  • Grading and sidewalk construction on the south side of Kapec Road will continue next week.

Cannonball Bike Path, near Capitol City Trail and Spoke/Sprocket Drive

• Sidewalk restoration work underway by MG&E Gas due to gas main relocation work in this area.

Plan Ahead: Two week look-ahead for April 10-14

• Between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., nighttime single lane closures (i.e., ramp lanes, turn lanes, etc.) at the Beltline and Verona Road interchange for traffic signal work. Please alert for crews and equipment in this area.
• East Frontage Road work will continue with grading, aggregates, storm sewer.
• Retaining wall and storm sewer work will take place south of County PD (McKee Road) adjacent to Nesbitt Road and Verona Road.
• New Fitchrona Road, between King James Way and Kapec Road, to continue with grading and new sidewalk along south side of the roadway.
  • Water main work along north side of roadway will start late April (pending).
• At the County PD and Fitchrona Road intersection, temporary traffic signals will be installed/completed.
  • Work may begin on adding right turn lane at Fitchrona Road to eastbound County PD with grading/aggregates.
  • To build the right turn lane on Fitchrona Road, one lane will remain CLOSED and remaining lanes will be altered to maintain traffic on Fitchrona Road.
  • County PD and Fitchrona Road will remain open during this work, but daytime single lane closures (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) may be needed.
• Restoration efforts to continue at Williamsburg Way roundabout and sidewalk terraces.  Landscaping in terraces along Nesbitt to continue this week as well.
