3M EXPANSION IN MENOMONIE
On Thursday, I attended Governor Walker’s announcement that 3M Company in
Menomonie would be expanding. 3M is a technology company that plays a role
in several business sectors.
The 3M Company in Menomonie will be eligible to receive up to $770,000 in
economic development tax credits and has embarked on a $28.4 million
expansion project. The project will involve purchasing new equipment,
training and engineering, and expanding the manufacturing facility. The
project will add 25 new full-time jobs to the area, an addition that
contributes to job growth and economic recovery.
These tax credits are the result of Special Session Assembly Bill 4, which
expanded the state’s economic development tax credits. The 3M expansion is a
great example of how this program works. I know many people I have spoken
with are looking forward to more job opportunities and getting back to work.
High-quality and full-time jobs that provide for families are one of my top
priorities.

CELL PHONES FOR SOLDIERS
Last month, Representative Kathy Bernier, Representative Warren Petryk, and
I attended the kick-off for Cell Phones for Soldiers. Many people have cell
phones that are gently used and no longer needed. There are over 150,000
troops serving overseas. Cell Phones for Soldiers is asking for Americans to
help support the troops by donating old cell phones. Cell Phones for
Soldiers hopes to collect over 50,000 no longer used cell phones this year.
Proceeds will be used to purchase calling cards that our troops can use to
contact their families back at home.
There is a drop off location located at:
AT&T Mobility Store
4620 Golf Road, Eau Claire
In addition, pre-paid shipping labels can be printed off from
www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com.
