SENATE BILL 93- CONCEALED CARRY BILL SIGNED LAST WEEK
Senate Bill 93, the bill that will allow Wisconsinites to carry a
concealed weapon was signed last week. Wisconsin will be the 49th state to
allow concealed carry. The legislation requires a criminal background check
and firearms safety training to obtain a concealed carry permit. Law
enforcement officers, veterans, military personnel, and citizens who have
already taken qualifying safety courses will not be required to take an
additional training course. More information can be found through the
Department of Justice. Their website is

This bill passed on a bipartisan basis, and returns a constitutional right
provided under the Second Amendment to Wisconsin residents.
WASTE, FRAUD, AND ABUSE COMMISSION
The interim report of the Governor’s Waste, Fraud, and Abuse Commission has
been released. The committee convened in January with the objective of
getting rid of waste, fraud, and abuse in government and finding stream
lined procedures that will benefit taxpayers. A potential $260 million in
savings have been found after six months by groups of people working to
research where efficiencies and services can be improved.
I would appreciate any suggestions from you, my constituents, on ways that
state spending can be trimmed or made better for the people of Wisconsin.
