Kenosha County Law Day I recently greeted the participants of Kenosha County Law Day on their visit to Madison. I led a Capitol tour for the group and was able to personally congratulate Julie Katzer, winner of the 2012 essay contest. This year, participants wrote on the topic "The Star Spangled Banner." Thanks to Deputy Rowe, Officer Walsh, American Legion Commander Dennis Hackeloer, teachers and students for coming to Madison.

Burlington Law Enforcement Memorial Friday, I joined with the Burlington Police Department in observing Peace Officer Memorial Day. Together, we remembered those who made the ultimate sacrifice to the City of Burlington. Officer Hubert "Pink" Schenning (End-of-Watch 2-9-1935) and Sergeant Anthony "Tony" Eilers (End-of-Watch 2-5-1962) were both shot to death in the line of duty. I was honored to participate in this important remembrance.
