Welcome Back! With the election season over, I am pleased to resume my bi-weekly updates to you. I am honored to serve as your representative in the Assembly for the next two years, and sincerely appreciate the support many of you have given me. Thank you! As you may know, Republicans now hold a 60-seat majority in the Assembly and a 19-seat majority in the Senate, and Scott Walker was elected as our new Governor. All of our newly-elected and re-elected officials will be inaugurated on January 3, 2011, including 25 freshmen members of the State Assembly. This Monday, my Assembly colleagues and I will hold our leadership elections. During this time, we will elect the new Speaker, Speaker Pro Tempore, Majority Leader, Assistant Majority Leader, Minority Leader, Assistant Minority Leader, and chairs of each party caucus. These will be the individuals responsible for leading the Assembly over the next two years as we address the serious challenges facing our state and rebuilding our economy.
Local Legislators Honored Recently, the Kenosha Achievement Center (KAC) honored me and two of my colleagues in the Legislature: Senator Bob Wirch and Representative John Steinbrink. We were recognized by the KAC's director, Paula Williams, for our support of the center and its work with people with disabilities. I am very humbled to have been honored by the KAC as I fully support their work in the community and their overall mission. Since 1964, their efforts have enabled people with disabilities to achieve a way of life that allows them to work and be active in their communities. KAC provides specialized transportation services to people with special needs as well as adult and early childhood educational services. I thank the KAC and its staff for the exceptional work they have done for so many of our area residents. To learn more about the KAC, please visit www.thekac.com.
