Matthew Korducki Earns Eagle Scout Honors Matthew Korducki, son of William Korducki, recently achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, the Boy Scouts of America's highest honor, on Sunday, April 25th. I, along with Senator Bob Wirch, County Supervisor Tom Pringle, Mayor Bob Miller, and Town Chairman Ralph Rice, joined Matthew, his family, friends, fellow St. Mary's Troop 334 members and leaders at his Court of Honor Ceremony held at St. Mary's Church in Burlington in celebration of Matthew's achievement. Senator Wirch and I presented Matthew with a citation from the State of Wisconsin and a U.S. flag flown over the State Capitol. In becoming an Eagle Scout, Matthew earned a number of Merit Badges and served in a variety of leadership positions. He has been a Patrol Scribe, Patrol Leader, Troop Quartermaster, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Junior Assistant Scoutmaster, and he served as the Order of the Arrow Leadership Executive Council Assistant to the Council Services Director. Additionally, Matthew completed a community service project in which he removed an old public pier at McCanna Park before building a new pier. His project was sponsored by the Racine County Conservation League. I continue to be completely amazed and impressed with the ambition, determination, and creativity demonstrated by all of the area Eagle Scouts I have met since I was first elected to the Assembly. These are truly outstanding young men with incredible potential that have made extraordinary differences within their communities. I am so pleased and honored to have been a part of their Eagle Scout Courts of Honor and look forward to attending many more in the future.

Brightree Reimbursement Services Relocates to Paddock Lake As we continue working to revive our local economy, we began this week with great, welcoming news: Brightree Reimbursement Services, a medical billing company, has relocated from Antioch, IL to their new facility in Paddock Lake. This move brings 80 jobs into the area and a much-needed boost to the economy of Paddock Lake and the surrounding area. After a difficult year for the area, Brightree is certainly a welcome breath of fresh air as their arrival will no doubt stimulate the local economy through the purchase and use of goods and services. I hope the employees of Brightree are enjoying their new home here in Paddock Lake, and I look forward to working with them to ensure their needs relating to state government are met.
A Visit with Somers Grade School Students On Monday, April 26th Senator Wirch, Representative Barca and I had the privilege of visiting the fourth grade class of Somers Grade School before their tour of the State Capitol. My colleagues and I discussed the legislative process with the students and how their state government serves them. We then explained our unique roles within state government and answered the many questions raised by the students. The class then traveled to Madison to tour the State Capitol on Thursday, April 29th where they learned more about the rich history of Wisconsin government. I was glad to see so much enthusiasm among the students as they learned more about their government and whether or not they would pursue careers in public service one day.

I-94 North-South Freeway Project I recently attended a meeting regarding the progress of the I-94 North-South Freeway Project for Kenosha and Racine counties. Many of you may be familiar with this $1.9 billion project, which extends from the Mitchell Interchange in Milwaukee through Racine and Kenosha counties to the Illinois state line. Construction began in 2009 and will continue through 2016 as the interstate is expanded to four lanes in each direction and 17 interchanges are redesigned. Beginning May 3rd, construction crews will start working to reconstruct the Wis. 50 east frontage road in Kenosha County, a project that is expected to be completed in the fall. During that time, alternative routes motorists will want to take include: the west frontage road, County K, or the Wis. 50 Interchange. For more information on the I-94 North-South Freeway Project, please visit www.plan94.org where you can sign up for e-mail updates, or call the project hotline at 262-548-8721.
