Rep. Kerkman Receives Committee Assignments State Representative Samantha Kerkman (R- Randall) said today that she has received her committee assignments for the upcoming legislative session. Rep. Kerkman will serve as the Ranking Minority Member of the Ways and Means Committee. This will be her fifth term serving on the committee, most recently as the Chair of Ways and Means for the 2007-08 Session. With the shift in control of the Assembly to the Democrats, the new Speaker has named Rep. Bob Ziegelbauer as the Chair of the Committee for the upcoming term. “I look forward to continuing to serve on the committee in this new capacity,” said Rep. Kerkman. “I expect that some of the issues we will be dealing with will be bills that have previously come before the committee.” Kerkman went on to say that she enjoys a good working relationship with Rep. Ziegelbauer. “Bob and I have served together on the committee for many years,” said Rep. Kerkman, “and I look forward to continuing our work in the months ahead.” Rep. Kerkman will also serve on the Joint Committee on Audit for the upcoming session, marking her fifth term serving on the Committee. The Committee has advisory responsibilities for the Audit Bureau. The Committee may direct the Audit Bureau to conduct audits and evaluations, receives and reviews reports issued by the Bureau, may conduct hearings on Audit Bureau reports, and may introduce legislation pertaining to Audit Bureau recommendations. Lastly, Rep. Kerkman has been appointed to the Assembly Judiciary and Ethics Committee, which is charged with dealing with matters relating to courts, judicial procedures, criminal law, probate courts, probation and parole, wills, estates, adoption, divorce, bankruptcy and ethics. “I am very pleased that I will have an opportunity to continue to serve on these three important committees this session,” Rep. Kerkman said. “The work these committees perform has an impact on the lives of the residents of the 66th District and the state of Wisconsin,” Kerkman said. “I’m anxious to get to work soon after next week’s Inauguration,” Rep. Kerkman concluded.
