Rep. Travis Tranel Working Hard For You!

Representative Travis Tranel and the State Assembly moved swiftly in the special session to enact important legislation to help create jobs and help get Southwest Wisconsin's economy back on track.
Representative Tranel said:

As I went around the district last fall knocking on doors and listening to the citizens of the 49th district they told me that jobs and the economy needed to be our main focus. During the last month Governor Walker and my legislative colleagues and I have done just that. Moving forward we will continue working hard to reform government and look for ways to lessen the burden on families and job creators around the state. Jobs and the economy are my top focus!

Here is the legislation I supported that Governor Walker recently signed into law:

1. Tax deductions for every new job a business creates. This act (SS AB 7) gives a direct tax deduction of $4,000 per job for small businesses and a $2,000 deduction per job for larger businesses.

2. Two year tax breaks for companies that re-locate to Wisconsin. SS AB 3 gives businesses relocating to our state a two year tax holiday, encouraging them to move jobs from higher tax jurisdictions to our state.

3. Lawsuit Reform Bill that will help to reduce frivolous lawsuits. This bill (SS SB1) makes businesses less vulnerable to damaging and unnecessary lawsuits. These lawsuits especially hurt small businesses and stop job creation.

4. Made Health Savings Accounts Tax Deductible. SS-SB 2 helps employer's lower healthcare costs for their employees. This savings can help businesses create more jobs. These are bills I supported and that have recently passed the State Assembly. They are now headed to Governor Walker's desk for his signature:

1. Regulatory Reform that will make government run more efficiently. This legislation moves much of the power of un-elected bureaucrats and places it back into the hands of your elected officials. (SS AB 8)

2. A re-organization of the state Commerce Department that will spur economic growth in Wisconsin. Special Session Assembly Bill 6 creates a public/private board to develop and implement economic programs and streamlines the Department of Commerce.

3. Two-thirds "super majority" vote to raise your taxes. Special Session Assembly 5 requires that any further increases in state sales taxes, excise taxes or the state income tax must be approved by a two thirds supermajority of both the Assembly and the State Senate. Previously only a simple majority was required.

The special session jobs package passed by the state legislature and signed by the governor will help make it easier for employers to create jobs in our corner of the state. Less taxes, less litigation, less regulation by Madison bureaucrats and lower healthcare costs help make our state a better place to do business and will help to foster job creation.
