GOVERNOR WALKER ISSUES AN EXECUTIVE ORDER DECLARING AN ENERGY EMERGENCY DUE TO INTERMITTENT PROPANE SUPPLIES

On November 3, 2017, Governor Scott Walker issued Executive Order #263 relating to the energy emergency due to intermittent propane supplies. This action comes as a result of the Rockford propane terminal closing recently due to maintenance, as well as other local propane facilities running on an already low supply of propane. With the Rockford facility out of service, the next largest propane terminal in Janesville has the difficulty of restocking a full inventory to meet the large demand in Wisconsin. This is especially concerning for state residents that rely on propane to warm their homes and the agricultural industry with wetter than normal crops. By Governor Walker issuing this Executive Order, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration allows commercial motor vehicles to transport propane during otherwise restricted state and federal hours of service on Wisconsin roadways. Wisconsin's state of emergency will take place from November 3rd until December 3rd, 2017.

I know propane affects numerous residents of the 42nd Assembly District, and I wanted everyone to be aware of this energy supply emergency.

CALLING ON ALL WISCONSIN STUDENTS TO HELP DECORATE

THE STATE CAPITOL CHRISTMAS TREE

Governor Walker Sends Out Invitation to Students to

Decorate the State Capitol Christmas Tree

Governor Walker asks art teachers, parents, and youth all across Wisconsin to help the State of Wisconsin decorate the 2017 Capitol Christmas Tree. The theme of the tree this year will be the Capitol’s 100th Birthday.

Students are asked to make ornaments from non-breakable materials.  They must be strong enough to hold up during shipping and to be handled while the tree is being decorated. For these reasons, we recommend students do not use fragile items or paper cutouts that may tear easily. We suggest ornaments that are 4-6 inches in size and are made from a color that contrasts with the color of the tree so they can easily be seen and enjoyed by all visitors.

New this year, we hope schools and parents will share young peoples’ experience making the ornaments with pictures and stories through Facebook and Twitter using #WICapitolTree.

To be considered, ornaments must be submitted by November 22 and should be based on the Capitol’s 100th Birthday theme. Ornaments can be mailed to:

The DNR is arranging delivery of the 2017 Capitol Christmas Tree from the Brule River State Forest area with a local trucking company. The exact delivery date is tentatively set for Wednesday, November 15. The tree will be put up in the Capitol Rotunda, and lit on Tuesday, November 28 and will be completely decorated by Thursday, November 30.
