"SAVE THE WINE WALKS" LEGISLATION SIGNED BY THE GOVERNOR
Great news!
Our Wine Walks legislation has finally made its way
through the entire legislative process, and has now been
signed into law by Governor Walker. I have already heard
from some of our communities that have been able to
re-open their wine walks events for this Fall. If you
are interested in receiving more information about these
events, please let me know and I can get you more
information or put you in touch with the right people.
Thank you to everyone that worked so hard to get this
bill done!
RE-EMPLOYMENT SERVICES
By now, I am sure most of you have
heard the sad news that the Oscar Mayer plant in Madison
will be closing its doors and moving 1,000 jobs
out-of-state. My thoughts are with those of my
constituents who are dealing with the shock and concern
following this announcement. Please know that I
will work with Governor Walker and the Department of
Workforce Development to help those needing
re-employment services. I encourage anyone from my
district who is affected by the closure to contact my office for
assistance.
WISCONSIN DEER HUNT
It’s that time of year again, and I want to make sure
you’ve got everything you need for Wisconsin gun deer
hunt.
Electronic Registration
This year, electronic registration is making it easier
than ever to register deer while keeping hunting
traditions intact and allowing DNR to continue
collecting important harvest data. Visit
dnr.wi.gov and search keywords “electronic
registration” to learn more! And remember, over 200
businesses statewide are signed up to act as
registration stations - a list of these stations is
available at dnr.wi.gov, keyword “registration
stations.”
Harvest totals will be updated weekly leading up to the
9-day gun deer hunt – search keywords “weekly
totals” for more information.
This year’s deer hunting regulations can be found
here. And, don’t forget to check out this year’s
full
Hunting and Trapping Forecast (or, just the
deer version).

70 MPH UPDATE
Beginning this week,
county highway crews will install 70 mph speed limit
signs on several multi-lane, non-Interstate freeway
segments where Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT)
analysis has determined the higher speed is appropriate.
The change applies to nine freeway segments totaling
about 161 miles. WisDOT has these important reminders
for motorists:
-
The higher speed limit takes effect
once a freeway is officially posted. Also, speed limits
apply to ideal travel conditions. Weather and other
factors often require reduced speeds.
-
Be alert for all
roadside workers including county maintenance crews and
adhere to the state’s Move Over Law (www.dot.wi.gov/safety/motorist/workzones/move-over.htm).
