INAUGURATION DAY

State Representative Keith Ripp (R-Lodi) took the oath of office yesterday in an inauguration ceremony at the State Capitol in Madison.

Ripp, who was re-elected to his third term in the legislature in November, will take on new responsibilities during this legislative session in his role as the Chair of the Transportation Committee. As a farmer and small business owner/operator of a trucking company, Ripp has a deep understanding of transportation issues and their effect on Wisconsin’s families and business owners.

“Transportation is vital to Wisconsin’s economy and infrastructure, and I am honored to serve as this committee’s chairman,” Ripp said. “We will work hard this session to ensure we maintain Wisconsin’s transportation system and that we use taxpayer dollars as efficiently as possible to do so.”

Ripp will also be serving as a member of the Assembly Committees on Agriculture, Small Business Development, Rural Affairs, State Affairs, and Ways and Means.

SNOWMOBILING

With the Winter Season in full swing, it is important for us to be mindful of our winter hobbies. As of yesterday, Columbia, Dane, Dodge, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, and Marquette Counties have closed the snowmobile trails due to poor trail conditions. When conditions improve and the trails are re-opened, please be careful to stay on the designated trails. While snowmobiling can be a fun and exciting activity, we also need to respect the landowners who offer up their land each year. Deviating from the designated trail can damage property, including valuable farmland. For more information on Wisconsin snowmobiling trails, please visit the DNR Website: www.dnr.wi.gov.

WELCOME ELISABETH DEBECK TO THE OFFICE

We have some recent staff changes; Tyler Wenzlaff has left our office and will be working in the Senate for Senator Tom Tiffany.  He has been a member of the Ripp team since my initial term and our office is sad to see him leave, but we wish him the best of luck in his new position!

With Tyler’s departure, I have hired Elisabeth DeBeck. Her previous legislative experience in the Minnesota State Senate will bring a new perspective here in Wisconsin. Her primary responsibility will be to assist me as Chairman of the Transportation committee. I believe her experience will serve our district well.
