Today, Rep. Ballweg (R-Markesan) had the distinct privilege
of presenting a joint resolution to UW Extension and UW Colleges
Chancellor Ray Cross and Dean Richard Klemme celebrating the 100th
anniversary of UW-EX Cooperative Extension.
“It was truly a pleasure to be able to honor the great staff
at Cooperative Extension offices across Wisconsin,” said
Ballweg.
“Throughout the years, I have heard numerous stories from
constituents on how Cooperative Extension has impacted their
lives,” said Ballweg. “I will continue to spread the word about
the wonderful programs that are offered and the positive impact
they have had on my family through 4H and Wisconsin.”
State Assembly Passes Senate Bill: Collection of Gasoline
Drive-offs
Representative Joan Ballweg (R-Markesan) lead author of
legislation, released the following
statement on Senate Bill 314, which passed the Wisconsin State
Assembly last night.
“This bill will create a system for small
business owners to obtain registration information from
customers that fail to pay for gas through the Department of
Transportation.
"Unfortunately, with the increase of gas
prices, the incidence of gas drive-offs increase as well. I am
pleased to give the small business owner another option to
collect a debt owed to them.
"Our locally owned stations need more
outlets to recover costs from drive-offs. Even though your local
station has a corporate logo, it is most likely a locally-owned
franchise. Any losses to gas drive-offs may be passed on to the
local patrons.”
