A Busy Summer in the 45th District!

I recently had the pleasure of touring Kandu Industries Inc. in Janesville. Kandu is an inspiring and productive place that provides employment and opportunities to disadvantaged or disabled community members. Today Kandu employs 200 people with help from income derived from client services, private funding and tax deductible donations.  In addition to learning about their community mission, I witnessed the diverse range of client services such as assembly, kitting and injet spray printing.  Awesome job Kandu!

How could it be summer in Rock County without the Rock County 4-H Fair?  Perhaps you saw me there enjoying the festivities or helping out at the Rock County Farm Bureau food tent! While I was there I had the opportunity to share my comments and legislative updates with WCLO talk show host Tim Bremell.

New Tuition Reciprocity

A new tuition reciprocity agreement was reached between Wisconsin and Minnesota. With the recent signing of the pact by Minnesota, Wisconsin residents can continue to enjoy affordable tuition rates if they choose to attend a higher education institution in Minnesota. This agreement applies vice versa for Minnesota residents as well. While all residents are eligible to take advantage of this exciting renewed agreement, an application is required. If interested, contact your high school, desired college, and the Higher Educational Aids Board (HEAB) in addition to completing the application that can be found here.

Upcoming!

I am proud to announce that I have authored a new bill that is currently circulating for co-sponsorship. The bill strengthens legal protections for victims of domestic violence and empowers Wisconsin courts to protect Wisconsin residents from abusers who are located in other states. I am looking forward to working in a bipartisan manner to pass this piece of important legislation for victims of domestic violence.

The new and updated Wisconsin Blue Book will be available in mid-October. The Blue Book is primarily used as a resource for all citizens to contact those in elected offices and government departments.  It also contains a variety of helpful and interesting updated information on our great State. Please feel free to call or email my office or stop in and reserve your copy!

The Assembly will be back in session from September 13th to the 22nd. Once again we will hit the ground running with a renewed emphasis on economic growth in Wisconsin!

Please feel free to contact me or my legislative assistant, Lonna Morouney if you have questions regarding legislative issues or need assistance with a situation involving a state agency or service.   Please visit my website to view recent press releases and to access various links and resources.  Thank you for the opportunity to serve you!.
