It's a busy time of year here in Madison!
The spring legislative season is in full swing as we discuss ways to
improve upon Governor Scott Walker's budget proposals and continue to
receive public input from listening sessions occurring across the state.
I will keep you informed regularly with this update, but I also
encourage you to follow my updates on social media or contact me
directly with your questions or comments.
We also had a bit of fun at the Capitol
last week when the Wisconsin Grocers Association arranged a friendly
competition. My constituent Mai Her, employee of Festival Foods in
Sheboygan, is Wisconsin's reigning Best Bagger, and she challenged
Senator LeMahieu and me to a "bag-off" contest. The judges said I
did well in the Style and Appearance category, but Mai soundly beat me
in the Technique and Weight Distribution categories and took home the
first place title. Even Assembly Speaker Robin Vos and Minority
Leader Peter Barca got in on the action. I've included a video
clip below.
I wish you a blessed Easter weekend and
hope you enjoy watching the Wisconsin
Badgers in the Final Four tomorrow
night!
Law
Enforcement Memorial License Plates
A constituent wrote me a letter last week
asking for my help to create a law enforcement memorial license plate to
honor the sacrifice of fallen heroes such as State Trooper Trevor Casper.
As it turns out, Governor Scott Walker signed
a law last spring to do exactly that. I got a sneak peek at the design
this week from the Department of Transportation, and it looks fantastic!
Watch for these license plates to be
available for purchase at local DMV service centers as early as May 1.
Reminder: Listening Sessions Coming Up!
I will be holding more joint listening
sessions with Senator Devin LeMahieu (R-Oostburg) in the district next
weekend.
Please feel welcome to come and share your thoughts with us!
