Today I attended the 25th Anniversary celebration for Door County Coffee. I met owner Vicki Wilson and her husband, Doug, when they first moved here. From very humble beginnings, they now have a 40,000 square foot facility and roast 3000 to 5000 pounds of coffee every day. They send coffee to every state and 8 foreign countries. Their secret has been selling "the best coffee on the planet" and providing fantastic service. Congratulations!
Joel Kitchens for Assembly shared a post.
Donโt forget that the Village of Allouez is putting on a presentation tonight from 5pm-7pm regarding GBCI at the Allouez Village Hall (1900 Libal Street) Hope to see you there!
Last night was the first annual Blessing of the Fleet in Algoma. It was a great event which honors the boating and fishing traditions in the community and serves as a show of appreciation for local emergency personnel. On June 23, 2016 there was a devastating fire at the Algoma marina. Many boats were destroyed and only the quick action of the local emergency workers prevented a loss of life. I gave a citation from Gov. Walker and the Assembly honoring the event. Put it on your calendar for next year!
I applaud Foxconn for voluntarily taking this step. This news comes on top of their announcement last week that they have purchased a building in downtown Milwaukee to serve as their North American headquarters. This site will employee 500 workers.
Last week I received the Friend of Housing Award from the Wisconsin Home Builders at the Door County Home Builders meeting. Our builders are among the first affected by economic downturns and they are the last to recover, so I am happy to see them so busy. Now we need to find more young people to go into the trades.
Last weekend was the first parade of the season at Maifest in Jacksonport. My papers are filed, so my re-election campaign has officially begun. It has been an honor to serve the people of northeast Wisconsin. I am proud of what we have accomplished over the past four years but there is still work to do. Thank you for your support!
