Representative Shelton Awards Legislative Citation to Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary

For years, Safe Haven has been giving local cats a second chance at life.

GREEN BAY, WI - This afternoon, Representative Kristina Shelton (D-Green Bay) presented Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary with a citation from the Wisconsin State Assembly in commemoration of Safe Haven’s history and impact on the local community. The citation calls attention to Safe Haven’s “continued dedication to animal welfare, rehabilitation, and service.” The event was open to the public and featured an official citation presentation followed by an hour-long meet-and-greet with Shelton and adoptable cats from the shelter.

Located on Broadway in Green Bay’s historic downtown, Safe Haven is a no-kill, cage-free shelter focused on rescuing and rehabilitating at-risk cats. As part of this mission, hundreds of cats walk through their doors each year plagued by instances of abuse, neglect, infection, and physical disability. Once rehabilitated, Safe Haven focuses on connecting their four-legged friends with fur-ever homes via adoption and foster care services. For those with more serious needs, Safe Haven provides a safe, comforting place for them to live out the rest of their lives.

Representative Shelton said in a statement:

“I am honored to present Safe Haven with this commemoration for their efforts to care and protect our furry family members and friends. Their services provide solace not only for the animals in their care but for the families who need them in moments of stress and fear. Their comfort and service exemplifies what makes our community great. It would be a CATastrophe not to take a meowment to celebrate their pawsome work.”
