Commitment to Equity and Racial Justice
The residents and voters in Wisconsin's 90th state assembly district represent and demonstrate daily examples of what it means to be hard working, dedicated, passionate, and resilient. Every day our families, neighbors, colleagues, and friends contribute to an economy that provides jobs and security, and a community that makes a democracy possible. The schools and community organizations in our district deliver public education through world-class learning opportunities as well as direct services and support to ensure our residents can thrive, be healthy, and engaged.
Heritage, culture, and tradition run deep in the 90th district; we have so much to be proud of! It’s also important to honor that our community is changing. The economic, racial, and cultural diversity in the 90th district continues to grow and shift each year. While the district remains predominantly white, several groups have seen significant population increases in recent years. Further, the Green Bay Area Public School District paints a unique and growing pattern of increased diversity across multiple and intersectional dimensions.
As a community, we have demonstrated a commitment and value system supportive of diversity and inclusion. Further, we see growing diversity in our district as one of the many benefits our residents bring to our neighborhoods and places of employment. However, we often fall short in overcoming the barriers to creating and supporting safe, equitable living, working and learning environments that work for all. As the representative to the 90th Assembly District, I am committed to prioritizing legislation and grassroots action to dismantle all forms of oppression. My commitment to serve is built on an unwavering belief that we can only transform what we are willing to name and confront. Racism, sexism, classism, ableism, heterosexism, xenophobia and other forms of oppression and hate have damaged us all and have no place in our state or communities.
It’s important to remember that no matter where we come from, the color of our skin, our identities, or our places of worship, we all believe in the value of hard work. Each of us contributes to the shared, common successes throughout the 90th state assembly district. By working together, we can and will continue to build a community that puts all of Wisconsin’s people first.
