Thank you for reading this week's edition of my e-update. I hope you find it informative. This will be my last e-update until after the November elections as state law, prohibits a candidate for office from distributing more than 49 substantially identical pieces of material from April 15th through Election Day. Even though I will not be sending e-updates, I will still try to keep you informed by posting on my Facebook page.

And while the legislative session may be over, my staff and I are still available to assist you. We are already beginning to take steps to prepare for next session so please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any ideas for potential legislation or if you need assistance with a state agency.

Hazardous Waste Clean-Up Bill Becomes Law
I am pleased to share that Assembly Bill 943, that I authored with Senator Petrowski, was signed into law by the governor this past Friday. This critical bipartisan legislation provides up to $2.5 million in funding for the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to contract for the removal of the hazardous electronic waste left behind by the now-defunct company 5R Processors. This waste is currently contained in several semi-trailers and warehouse facilities located in Rusk, Price, and Washington Counties.

This new law is a big step forward for the communities impacted by 5R and I would like to thank Ladysmith City Administrator Al Christianson and Rusk County Administrative Coordinator Andy Albarado for their advocacy on this issue. Also, with Senator Petrowski retiring I'm incredibly proud that the last piece of legislation that we worked on together has made it across the finish line and will help the people we both represent.
Spring Newsletter
Recently, my spring newsletter hit mailboxes across the 87th District. This newsletter provides you an update on some of the things that I worked on this session, as well as an overview of some of this session's big legislative accomplishments. Due to the mailing costs, I wasn't able to send a newsletter to every household in the district. If you did not receive a copy of my newsletter in the mail you can still read it online on my website at RepEdming.com or by clicking the image below.
Around the 87th
Congratulations Deputy Kahan!
This past Friday, I had the opportunity to attend a celebration for Taylor County Deputy David Kahan who is retiring after 37 years of dedicated service. It was an honor to join with Senator Petrowski to present him with a legislative citation recognizing his many years of service in law enforcement to the people of Taylor County. Congratulations Deputy Kahan on your well-deserved retirement!
Congratulations Sergeant Parr!
On Saturday, I had the opportunity to attend the retirement celebration for my friend, Sergeant Cliff Parr who retired after 25 years with the Wisconsin State Patrol and 32 years in law enforcement. Thank you Cliff for your many dedicated years of service to the State of Wisconsin and congratulations on your well-deserved retirement!
Northwest Taylor County ATV Riders Pancake Breakfast
I enjoyed a great meal at the Northwest Taylor County ATV Rider's pancake breakfast on Sunday morning. Thank you for all the work you and other clubs do to make our area a great place to get out and ride the trails.
Medford Cafe Grand Re-Opening
I stopped by the Medford Cafe for their grand re-opening yesterday and enjoyed a great meal. I wish the new owners, Tim and Zena Besiri many years of success.
Upcoming Events
Getting out to the many awesome community events around the 87th District and meeting with constituents is one of the best parts of my job as your state representative. Check out some of the upcoming events around the district below. Also, because I will not be able to send out my weekly e-updates for a while, I've created a list of upcoming events around the district on my website. If you know of any other upcoming events, please contact my office and let me know, so I can include them on the website and attend if I'm able. You can find this list by clicking here.
