Welcome to this edition of my e-update. I appreciate you taking a few minutes to read this update from the State Capitol. With so much going on the Assembly floor over the past few weeks I wasn't able to tell you about it all as it happened, so I decided to share a bit more about some of the bills approved by the Assembly. You can read about this and more below.

As always, please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have any thoughts on issues before the legislature or if you need assistance with a state agency.

More from the Assembly Floor
The month of February was incredibly busy at the State Capitol. The Assembly met several times, and many good proposals were approved. With all of the legislative activity, it wasn't possible to share it all with you as it happened. This week I will update you on a couple more bills that were passed by the Assembly over the past few weeks.

The first bill is Assembly Bill (AB) 932. This bill allocates $20 million in federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to the Department of Workforce Development (DWD). The funding would be used by DWD to increase the number of approved apprenticeship programs, promote the Youth Apprenticeship program in schools that currently have little or no participation, provide additional funding for apprenticeship completion awards, and provide funding to bridge the connections between the Youth Apprenticeship Program and other apprenticeship programs. I was proud to speak in favor of AB 932 on the Assembly floor, and you can click below to watch my speech.

Another bill that was approved by the Assembly recently is AB 912, which I discussed in my e-update a few weeks ago. This bill limits the use of emergency powers during emergencies so that no business may be declared essential or nonessential. It also requires that any action or regulation of a business relating to an emergency must be applied to all businesses uniformly. During the pandemic, many businesses were wrongly declared “non-essential” by Governor Evers and shut down. These unilateral mandates closed many small businesses across our state while other large chain stores were allowed to remain open, full of people. AB 912 ensures that if any mandates are ever put into place in the future, they are applied to all businesses equally. You can click below to watch my speech in support of this bill.

Trinity Lutheran Visits the Capitol
On Wednesday I had the opportunity to welcome some of the students from Trinity Lutheran School in Athens to the State Capitol. It is awesome to see school groups visiting our beautiful Capitol again. If your student's class would like to plan a trip to Madison have their teacher contact my office for assistance.
Around the 87th
Birkie Fever
I had a great time this past Saturday taking in the 48th Annual American Birkebeiner in Hayward. I'm incredibly proud to have this world-class event in the 87th Assembly District. Thank you to everyone at the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation for all their work to make this event a success!
Supporting the Greater Hayward House of Hope
It was great to be back in Hayward on Thursday evening to attend the fundraiser to support the Greater Hayward House of Hope. This awesome community organization provides faith-based support to individuals struggling with addiction and homelessness. To learn more about this organization you can visit their website at www.houseofhopehayward.org.
Upcoming Events Around the 87th
Getting out to the many awesome community events around the 87th District and meeting with constituents is one of the best parts of my job as your state representative. Check out some of the upcoming events around the district below. If you know of any other upcoming events, please contact my office and let me know, so I can include them in a future e-update and attend if I'm able.
Stay Up to Date
One of the best ways to stay up to date with what is going on in Madison is to sign up for the legislature's notification tracking service. This service allows you to follow legislative activity in Madison. Once you create a free account you can sign up to receive notifications about specific bills or committees as well as legislative activity pertaining to a subject area (i.e. agriculture, veterans). You can sign up for this service at notify.legis.wisconsin.gov.
