A Note from Rep. Edming

Welcome to another edition of my e-update. It is beginning to look more like spring around the State Capitol with the first tulips beginning to bloom in the flower beds around the building.

The highlights of this week were attending the Joint Finance Committee Public Hearing in Rhinelander and visiting with the folks at the Taylor County Human Services Department. Also, as you may have read last week, this upcoming Thursday and Friday, April 29th and 30th I will be holding office hours around the 87th Assembly District to get feedback on state issues and the budget. You can learn more below.

Joint Finance Committee Public Hearing

On Wednesday, I spent the day in Rhinelander participating in the state budget public hearing hosted by the Joint Finance Committee (JFC). I appreciate the opportunity to get feedback from constituents and other Wisconsinites on our state's proposed two-year spending plan. In addition to the hearing in Rhinelander, the JFC was also at UW-Stout in Menomonie on Thursday. The final public hearing will be held virtually this upcoming Wednesday, April 28th.

If you were unable to participate in one of the public hearings you can also provide your written comments on the budget to the committee. You can do so by visiting the committee's public comment website legis.wisconsin.gov/topics/budgetcomments or you can submit them by email at budget.comments@legis.wisconsin.gov.

Around the 87th

Visit with the Taylor County Human Services Department

On Thursday, I visited the Taylor County Human Services Department where I had the chance to discuss their budget priorities with department director Liza Daleiden and other staff members. Thank you to Liza and the rest of the staff for sharing your feedback with me.

Upcoming Events Around the 87th District

One of my favorite parts about serving as your state representative is getting out and interacting with constituents at many of the wonderful community events around the 87th District. With more and more events being held once again, I am looking to start sharing information about upcoming community events in my e-updates. Do you know of any upcoming events around the 87th District? If you do, please contact my office and let me know, so I can include it in a future e-update and try to attend myself.

Check out the following events happening around the district:

Drug Take Back Day

This Saturday, April 24th is Drug Take Back Day in Wisconsin. This statewide event provides a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposal of unused medications and there are some convenient locations in the 87th District that you can utilize. To find a Drug Take Back location near you, go to www.doseofrealitywi.gov/find-a-take-back-location/.

Stay Up to Date

One of the best ways to stay up to date with what is going on in Madison is to sign up for the legislature's notification tracking service. This service allows you to follow legislative activity in Madison. Once you create a free account you can sign up to receive notifications about specific bills or committees as well as legislative activity pertaining to a subject area (i.e. agriculture, veterans). You can sign up for this service at notify.legis.wisconsin.gov.

If you subscribed to this service over the past couple of years you will need to resubscribe to proposals, committees, and authors for the new legislative session.
