A Note from Rep. Edming

Thank you for taking a few minutes to check out this edition of my e-update.

With the short week due to the Thanksgiving holiday, my office will not be sending an e-update out next week. I wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving and I hope that your time gathering with family and friends is filled with joy and memories.

As always, please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have any thoughts on issues before the legislature or if you need assistance with a state agency.

Enforcement of Vaccine Mandate Suspended

Since President Biden's administration announced the federal COVID-19 vaccine requirement a few weeks ago, I have heard from many constituents who reached out to share their concerns about this mandate. Some are individuals with strong personal objections to receiving the vaccine while others are business owners or management concerned about the impact this mandate will have on the already critical workforce shortage in our state. As I have said before, I continue to believe that the decision to receive a vaccination should be a personal decision and not mandated by the government.

As you may have heard, challenges to this mandate have been filed in federal courts around the country and late last week the United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit affirmed its previously issued suspension of this mandate. I am pleased to share that the federal agency that put this mandate forward, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), announced earlier this week that it is suspending its enforcement of the mandate in response to this ruling. However, the federal government is still defending this mandate, and it will likely continue working through the judicial process over the coming months. All cases challenging the mandate have been consolidated before the United States Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit. No matter the outcome in that lower court the matter is likely to be decided by the United States Supreme Court.

Christmas Season Begins at the Capitol

While we haven't quite made it to Thanksgiving yet, believe it or not, Christmas is little over a month away. This week the first signs of the season appeared in the Capitol rotunda with the arrival of the State Capitol Christmas Tree. This year's tree is a 32-foot balsam fir that was donated by the Menominee Nation. It is great to see this Christmas tradition return this year. The tree will be decorated over the next several days and a lighting ceremony will be held on Friday, December 3rd.

Good Luck Hunters!

Tomorrow is the start of one of Wisconsin's greatest sporting traditions, the gun deer hunting season. One of the best parts about living in the 87th District is that it is one of the best areas of the state to participate in Wisconsin's hunting tradition. Good luck to all the hunters across the 87th District.

Also, if you have any pictures of your harvest feel free to share them with my office. We will be highlighting some on my Facebook page and an upcoming e-update. When emailing your pictures please include your name, where you shot it, and its points. I'm looking forward to seeing some of the hunting successes around the 87th!

Upcoming Events Around the 87th

One of my favorite parts about serving as your state representative is getting out and interacting with constituents at many of the wonderful community events across the 87th District. Check out some of the upcoming events around the district below. Also, if you know of any other events, please contact my office and let me know, so I can include them in a future e-update and try to attend myself.

Check out some of the events coming up around the district:

Stay Up to Date

One of the best ways to stay up to date with what is going on in Madison is to sign up for the legislature's notification tracking service. This service allows you to follow legislative activity in Madison. Once you create a free account you can sign up to receive notifications about specific bills or committees as well as legislative activity pertaining to a subject area (i.e. agriculture, veterans). You can sign up for this service at notify.legis.wisconsin.gov.
