A Note from Rep. Edming

Thanksgiving2019 [448].jpg

Thank you for reading this week's e-update. I had another great week representing the folks of the 87th Assembly District.

Next week, my staff and I will be out of the office most of the week due to Thanksgiving, so we will be taking a week off from the e-update. Please don't hesitate to contact the office if you have questions or comments about state affairs, and my staff or I will get back to you as soon as we can. I hope everyone around the district has a great holiday on Thursday!

As always, if you would like to share your thoughts or concerns on any state issues, please do not hesitate to contact my office. I look forward to hearing from you.

Under Construction

As you may recall, last session the legislature approved an economic incentive package to bring advanced technology manufacturer, Foxconn, to Wisconsin. With Foxconn's primary campus being located in southeastern Wisconsin, I have been asked by some folks around the district about the benefits Foxconn brings to our neck of the woods. I figured the best way to explain this would be just to show you.

Yesterday, my staff and I visited some of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation road construction projects that are currently in progress near the Foxconn site in Mount Pleasant. Three of these projects are being completed by Medford-based James Peterson Sons, Inc. (JPS). Company President Jeff Peterson and JPS Site Manager Ryan Peterson showed us around the work their company has been doing over the last few months on their projects which includes Braun Road, the road that runs adjacent to the first Foxconn facility that is currently under construction.  We heard from Jeff and Ryan about the positive impact these projects have had on their company.  We also learned that in addition to these road projects, JPS was also awarded a joint contract with another Wisconsin company to perform excavation and storm-water work on the Foxconn site.  It was great to see first hand the statewide impact of the Foxconn investment.

While we were there, we shot some great footage of my visit.  Be sure to be on the lookout for my next e-update in a couple of weeks as well as on my Facebook page for a video of the visit.

Good Luck Hunters!

At the start of this deer hunting season, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) estimates the state will have a deer population of more than 2 million. I look forward to seeing a lot of hunters this season throughout the 87th District, as we have one of the best areas in the state for hunting.

DNR Big Game Ecologist Kevin Wallenfang previewed this year's deer season on an episode of Wisconsin Eye's "Newsmakers". To watch the episode and learn more about the state of Wisconsin's deer herd, click here. Don't forget to brush up on the state's hunting regulations before you go out.

To all the hunters in the district, good luck this year!
