Below is a list of resources that may be helpful during severe winter weather. My office will update this page with additional information as we receive it.
Before the Storm
Before a winter storm, it is important to prepare as much as you can by:
- Having plenty of water and food (for people, pets, and livestock)
- Get medications refilled
- Charge cell phones
- Fill your car with gas and get gas for generators
- Gather blankets and warm clothes
- Have flashlights, batteries, candles, etc. ready
Report a Power Outage
Jump River Electric Cooperative: During office hours call 715-532-5524 or after hours 1-866-273-5111. You can also use your mobile phone to connect to https://jrec.com/outages and click on the Outage button.

Xcel Energy: Call 800-895-4999 or Text OUT to 98936. You can also submit outage information online at https://wi.my.xcelenergy.com/s/outage-safety/report-outage
North Central Power: 715-945-2630 or Sawyer County residents can either text or call 715-638-6000. Please provide your name, address, and telephone number and someone will contact you for more information. All other power customers should contact their provider directly.

Storm updates will be posted on the Sawyer County Public Health Facebook page. County-wide emergency messages will also be posted to Nixle, which residents can enroll in for free. https://www.nixle.com/
