A Note from Rep. Edming

Thank you for reading my e-update this week. I hope everyone is having a great summer so far and getting out to enjoy the many awesome community events around the 87th Assembly District. If you haven't had the opportunity yet this summer there are a number of events coming up over the next several weeks and you can find more information about some of these events in the Around the 87th section below.

This week I will go over some wonderful events I attended  around the 87th and discuss some very disappointing vetoes on important bills.

As always, please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have any thoughts on issues before the legislature or if you need assistance with a state agency.

Talking Tourism at the
Lumberjack World Championships

As I shared in last week's e-update I had the opportunity a couple of weeks back to get a behind-the-scenes look at the Lumberjack World Championships in Hayward. Once a year some of the very best lumberjacks and lumberjills come to our area from around the world to compete in one of the premier events in timber sports. We are so lucky to have an event of this caliber right in our own backyard.

Tourism is an incredibly important part of the economy in our area and it was great to talk with event organizers, business leaders, and others in the Hayward area about the impact this world-class event has on the area. More Disappointing Vetoes

One of the top issues constituents have contacted my office about over the past several months is to share their concerns regarding the integrity of our elections. Back towards the end of June, I shared that the State Assembly passed a package of election reform bills that address a number of concerns raised by folks around the 87th District and across the state. Unfortunately, earlier this week Governor Evers vetoed all of these measures.

Rib Lake Ice Age Days

I had a great time this past weekend at Rib Lake's Ice Age Days. It was great to see so many folks out enjoying this awesome community event.

Glen Flora Lutheran Church's 125th Anniversary

This past weekend I was able to join in the 125th-anniversary celebration of Glen Flora Lutheran Church. As a long-time member of this church, it was wonderful to celebrate this important milestone with the church and the Glen Flora community.

Upcoming Events Around the 87th

One of my favorite parts about serving as your state representative is getting out and interacting with constituents at many of the wonderful community events across the 87th District. Check out some of the upcoming events around the district below. Also, if you know of any other events, please contact my office and let me know, so I can include them in a future e-update and try to attend myself.

Stay Up to Date

One of the best ways to stay up to date with what is going on in Madison is to sign up for the legislature's notification tracking service. This service allows you to follow legislative activity in Madison. Once you create a free account you can sign up to receive notifications about specific bills or committees as well as legislative activity pertaining to a subject area (i.e. agriculture, veterans). You can sign up for this service at notify.legis.wisconsin.gov.
