A Note from Rep. Edming

ChristmasGraphic6.jpg

Thank you for taking a few minutes to read my e-update.  It is hard to believe that Christmas is almost here and that 2017 is coming to an end.  After the first of the year, the legislature will be gearing up for what is sure to be a busy 2018 floor period.  As always, please feel free to reach out to share your thoughts on issues before the legislature.

Merry Christmas!

Building Momentum for Employment First

In my last e-update, I discussed my Employment First proposal, Assembly Bill (AB) 625/Senate Bill (SB) 514.  Earlier this week, I joined with folks from around the state to discuss this proposal that will get our state agencies to work together more and make it easier for people with disabilities to get the support they need to find and keep a job.  I am also pleased to report that AB 625 will be receiving a public hearing on January 10th.  I am excited to see all the support this legislation has around our state and look forward to working in the coming year to get this bill to the Governor's desk.  You can find a video of the press conference on my Facebook page.

Removing A Barrier for Student Entrepreneurs

On Tuesday, I testified in support of Assembly Bill (AB) 498, before the Assembly Committee on Small Business Development.  This legislation exempts student entrepreneurs from the initial filing fee for forming an LLC.  This exemption would expand opportunities for young entrepreneurs and encourage our students to start their own businesses, right here in Wisconsin.  I appreciate the people who took the time to come to Madison to testify in support of this proposal, including UW-Stevens Point Chancellor Bernie Patterson.

Rusk County Veterans Christmas Party

Recently, I had the opportunity to speak with Rusk County veterans at their annual Christmas party.  It was great to see my friend Clarence Stine who is 96 years young!
